More Housing Given Green Light
Ashford’s largest brownfield site got the green light
for more housing this week.
The Planning Committee agreed to the proposal by Taylor Wimpey
and Persimmon Homes of 99 new homes on the site with associated
roads, parking and landscaping on the site of the former Templer
Barracks.
There will be a mixture of 1 and 2 bedroom flats and 2, 3, 4 and
5 bedroom homes on this prime site, just off the A20 close to
Junction 9 of the M20 and the town centre.
The first phase of development, consisting of 83 homes was
recently completed, and phase 2 (124 homes) is well underway.
When the whole planned development is completed, Repton Park
which covers 50 hectares will include 1,250 new homes and new
community facilities such as shops, a school, doctor’s surgery and
a community centre.
Cllr John Kemp, portfolio holder for planning and development,
said: “This development is an important site for Ashford and will
go a long way towards providing the much needed high quality
sustainable developments this town deserves.”
