Satisfaction in Sun at Create
Around 5,000 people took to Victoria Park in Ashford on Sunday
28th July to enjoy a day of live music at the 2008 Create Music
Festival.
Now in its 13th year, the Create festival, a free event that is
organised and funded by Ashford Borough Council, was the perfect
way to close the Ashford Summer Sounds Programme – a collection of
mostly free events running throughout July which is sponsored by
the national regeneration agency, English Partnerships.
Chris Dixon, Arts Project Coordinator for Ashford Borough
Council, said: “This has been the best Create Music Festival for a
very long time and I am so proud of all of the hard work from event
staff and volunteers.”
Headline act 21st Century Stones closed the day with a classic
set of Rolling Stones numbers, sending festival goers home full of
satisfaction.
Chris added: “Our aim was to make this an event that everyone
could enjoy and I think we got the right mix of people out to enjoy
alternative music and families spending time together on Victoria
Park.
“We have now set ourselves an even higher benchmark which we
will try and beat next year, so our search for bands and headline
acts will start in earnest in 2009.”
