State Of The Borough Debate
Every year Ashford Borough
Council holds a debate on a topic of importance to local
people.
This year the debate takes place on Thursday October 16 and will
focus on the Ashford Sustainable Community Strategy, a document
that sets out the vision for the borough for the next 10 years.
David Hill, Chief Executive of Ashford Borough Council and Chair
of the Ashford Local Strategic Partnership, will introduce a series
of short three minute presentations, including:
- Learning for Everyone – David Adams, Kent County Council
and Monica Box, South Kent College
- Economic Success/Achieving High Quality Homes – Richard
Alderton, Ashford Borough Council
- Improving Health and Wellbeing – A representative from East
Kent & Coastal PCT
- Securing stronger safer Communities – A representative from
Kent Police
- Keeping Ashford Moving – Judith Armitt or Andy Phillips,
Ashford’s Future
- Enjoying Life/Promoting Environmental Excellence – David Hill,
Ashford Borough Council
Following each presentation the Mayor will invite Councillors
and members of the public to ask any questions they may have on the
presentations.
Subject to any recommendations which may arise from the
subsequent debate there will be an Extraordinary Council Meeting to
formally approve the Council’s Community Strategy.
The debate takes place at 7pm in the Council Chamber, Civic
Centre, Ashford and members of the public are welcome to
attend.
