Building Control
Building
Regulations ensure the health and safety of people in and around
buildings by providing functional requirements for building design
and construction. They also make sure that the requirements of
people with disabilities are met.
Builders and Developers are required by law to obtain Building
Control Approval - to ensure that the Building Regulations have
been complied with.
Our Building Control team is committed to protecting residents
and the environment
by providing high quality customer focused services
that ensure building projects comply with Building Regulations.
As well as enforcing building legislation our Building Control
Team also provides additional services including:
- Simplified Building Energy Method (SBEM) assessments
- Standard Assessment Procedure (SAP)
- Review your designs and advise on how to achieve compliance
with the minimum standards required
- Provide Energy Performance Certificates (EPC)
- Undertake Code for Sustainable Homes Assessments
You should contact both Building Control and
Planning when considering any development to ensure compliance
under both disciplines.
On many developments Building Control Officers and Planning
Officers co-operate closely by employing the principles of a
Development Team Approach (DTA). This brings together all local
authority regulatory agencies, which affect the development process
in order to provide a co-ordinated approach from conception to
completion.
Should you wish to discuss the benefits of the DTA please email

Our Building Control Team is registered under ISO 9001 2000
which means that we are constantly audited to ensure that we meet
the Service Standards which are set out in our
Customer Charter.
