Tim Parrett Dip. Surv. CEM MIAS MFPWS - Head of Building Control and Business Manager

Tim is a Member of the Association of Building Engineers and Member of the Faculty of Party Wall Surveyors and holds a Diploma in Building Surveying from College of Estate Management. Tim started his Building Control career at Shepway District Council and moved to Ashford in 1986. He was appointed as Head of Building Control in 2000 and has since then been chairman of Kent Building Control Managers and is currently Chair of the South East Region of Local Authority Building Control (LABC). He is very active in training and regularly presents Continual Professional Development (CPD) seminars to private companies and also other professional bodies.

Les Bambridge MBEng Tech RICS - Senior Building Control Surveyor

Les has worked for Ashford Borough Council for the last 20 years. He is currently part of the commercial projects and discretionary works team who are responsible for checking Major Projects, and Partner Authority Applications. Les is also involved in additional discretionary works such as Simplified Building Energy Model (SBEM) assessments.

Iain Butler-Gallie MBEng - Senior Building Control Surveyor

Iain joined Ashford Borough Council Building Control in 2000. He previously worked in private sector Building Control and at Tunbridge Wells Building Control and Swale Building Control. Iain is responsible for Major Schemes and Partner Authority Applications. He is also involved in additional discretionary works such as SBEM assessments and Fire Risk Assessments.

Engineering Consultant

Ian Pyne BSc(Hons) C Eng MICE MaPS - Engineering Consultant

Ian joined Ashford Borough Council in 1979 as a civil/structural engineer in a design capacity with a team of Architects and Engineers, but assisted Building Control in their checking of Part A (Structure). He is now based in Building Control full time but also acts as a consultant for various other departments within the Council to achieve engineering excellence and project safety. Ian trained and initially worked with a London consultancy and subsequently in the West Country.

Geoff Cole - Senior Building Control Surveyor

Geoff has worked for Ashford Borough Council Building Control for over 17 years and has over 34 years experience of working in Building Control. His career started with Eastry Rural District Council prior to Local Government Reorganisation and has spanned periods at Dover District Council, Canterbury City Council and Shepway District Council. Geoff is Ashford Borough Council's Access Officer and is available to give advice on matters of access into and around buildings for people with disabilities. He is committed to providing a progressive, pro active and focused customer service within Local Authority Building Control.

Glyn Davies - Building Control Surveyor

Glyn joined Ashford Borough Council Building Control in 2003. He worked at National House Building Council (NHBC) for five years and prior to that at Maidstone Borough Council Building Control and Private Sector Housing. Glyn is a Licensed Assessor for ‘Code of Sustainability’ and has a Diploma in Building Control and National Core Curriculum in Fire Studies.

Colin Button - Building Control Surveyor

Colin joined Ashford Borough Council Building Control in 1974 as a Trainee Building Control Surveyor and is now an area surveyor. He has a Higher National Certificate (HNC) in Construction and assists with small domestic Partner Authority Applications.

Darren Parrett BEng(Hons) BSc(Hons) ABEng - Building Control Surveyor

Darren joined Ashford Borough Council Building Control in May 2005. He started his Building Control career at Maidstone Borough Council in October 2002. Prior to that, he worked for construction company Mowlem. Darren has recently completed a BSc in Building Engineering at Sheffield Hallam University in conjunction with the Association of Building Engineers (ABE).

Jack Allen - Building Control Surveyor

Jack joined Ashford Borough Council Building Control in 2004. In addition to being a Building Control Surveyor Jack is an authorised Standard Assessment Procedure (SAP) assessor and is involved in the domestic discretionary works team. He is currently undertaking a BSc (Hons) in Building Surveying at Greenwich University and has a HNC in Construction.
