Satellite Dishes and Aerials
Planning permission may not be required providing:
- It does not exceed 90cm in any dimension, or 45cm if installed
on a chimney.
- There is no other satellite antenna on the house or within the
garden.
- It is not higher than the highest part of the roof, or the
highest part of the chimney if installed on a chimney.
- Special restrictions apply in conservation areas and
AONB
s. In
all cases an antenna must be sited to minimise its effect on the
external appearance.
- If your property is a listed building, Listed Building Consent
will be required to erect a satellite antenna. In general,
the equipment should be located in the least obtrusive location,
for example within a valley, however you are advised to contact the
Conservation Team in the first instance for further advice on 01233
330729 or 330739.
You may need to apply for planning permission to install an
antenna on your house in certain circumstances. You can use the
Satellite Dish Locator
tool to help you determine whether permission is
required.
Remember, you are responsible for the appropriate siting of
satellite dishes; if you have any doubt, contact the planning
department or seek independent professional advice.
