Tenterden and Rural Sites
The Tenterden and Rural Sites Development Plan
Document (DPD) forms part of the Ashford's Local Development
Framework, and will deal primarily with the allocation of
residential development in Tenterden and other rural
settlements.
The overarching planning policy approach for
the rural areas was set out under Policy CS6 of the Adopted Core Strategy, which established both an overall
housing quantum for the rural area, alongside the principles for
locating this development in the most sustainable settlements.
Policy CS6, has therefore established the
principle behind allocating development in the rural area. One of
the key roles of the Tenterden and Rural Sites development
plan document is to take this approach one step further and
actually identify development sites in the rural area.
Proposed Changes to the Publication Version Consultation -
27 November 2009 - 8 January 2010
The Regulation 27 - Publication version of the Tenterden and
Rural Sites DPD went out for public consultation from Tuesday
30 June to Tuesday 11 August 2009. Following this 6 weeks of public
consultation on the DPD, the Council has considered the
representations received and is now proposing to make a number of
changes to the Publication version of the DPD.
The DPD was subjected to a further 6 week
period of public consultation from 27th November 2009 until 8th
January 2010, on the proposed changes only. This additional
consultation stage gave the public and other stakeholders the
opportunity to make formal comments on the Council’s
proposed changes to the DPD only
and the consequences of including them in the DPD, before
submission to Government.
As the consultation period has now ended, the representations
made on the proposed changes only are being reviewed and are
available to view on the Consultation Portal
Background Documents
In conjunction with the preparation of the
DPD, a Sustainability Appraisal has been
produced which includes appraisals of all site submissions in CS6
settlements and of the Topic Policies.
Copies of the document have been sent to the ‘Statutory’ bodies
which include Environment Agency, English Heritage and Natural
England for consultation.
