Streets: Ashford Borough Council

Streets

We take pride in the borough and spend more than £1 million each year picking litter, sweeping the streets and removing Flytipping and Graffiti.

Along with our colleagues at Kent County Council, we play an important role in ensuring our streets are clean and pleasant environments free of Litter, Abandoned Vehicles and other eyesores. In this section of the website, you can also find information on End Of Life Vehicles, Untaxed VehiclesDistributing Free Literature and Flyposting. We rely on residents to be our eyes and ears and encourage you to report areas of concern to us.

T-CAT

Town centre action team imageAshford Borough Council’s Town Centre Action Team (T-CAT) ushers in a new era of a brighter and cleaner town centre for all to see.

The team, which is fully funded by the council, and their new branded 4x4 are tasked with keeping the town centre looking at its best, and can rapidly respond to any problems by residents, visitors or local businesses.

Duties covered by the team include litter picking, minor maintenance works and painting and refurbishing street furniture and facilities within the town centre (such as benches, barriers, bollards, signs, bins and bus stops).

T-CAT also cover general care to the council’s gardens and planted areas, de-icing pavements and snow clearance, and will have some enforcement powers.

The public will also soon be able to use the council’s upgraded Report It mobile app to quickly report litter or maintenance issues to the team.

The project is supported by Ashford’s Town Team and key town centre businesses.
