Subject Access Requests

If Ashford Borough Council holds personal data about you, you have the right to access a copy of that personal data and information about how Ashford Borough Council processes your personal data. You also have the right to have any inaccuracies in your personal data erased or corrected.

Any request from an individual for information held about them by Ashford Borough Council is called a Subject Access Request (SAR). To request information a Subject Access Request Form [pdf] 272KB should be filled in and sent by post to the Data Protection Officer, Ashford Borough Council, Ashford, Kent, TN23 1PL; or by email to foi@ashford.gov.uk.

Please note, you are not required to complete this form, however doing so will help Ashford Council to process your SAR with as much information as possible.

To process a subject access request the following is required:

  1. A fee of £10 (which must be made by cheque payable to "Ashford Borough Council")
  2. Two types of proof of identity such as:
    • driving licence
    • passport
    • recent utility bill

Identity documents must be originals rather than copies. If a third party is making the request on behalf of someone else, we will need proof of identity for both the person making the request and the person on whose behalf the request is made. We will also need proof that the person making the request has the authority to do so, such as a signed letter of consent from the person whose data is being requested.

If you only wish to see CCTV footage of yourself, please visit CCTV Subject Access page.
