Play Area Refurbishments
Ashford Borough Council is committed to providing local communities with high quality and accessible play spaces, and we continually seek to secure additional funding to maintain and strengthen the local play offer.
There are currently two projects to install new play equipment (Singleton Park and Brisley Farm) and three recently completed installations and refurbishments;
- Singleton Park (Now known as Cuckoo Park)
- Brisley Farm Open Space
- Hythe Road Recreation Ground
- Stour Centre Play Space
- Goat Lees Youth Play Space (Trinity Road)
Singleton and Brisley Farm residents are set to see the first community park built in the borough for many years.
Hythe Road Recreation Ground, at the heart of north Willesborough, is a busy community space and many access routes that is used regularly for dog walking, play and recreation.
Local residents were consulted on plans to refurbish the existing play area, including installing a basket swing and a new youth shelter to be designed by local young people.
The new play space was officially opened in April 2014 by The Worshipful The Mayor, Cllr David Smith and Willesborough Junior School.
A fantastic addition to the Stour Centre the new play space outside the front entrance of the leisure centre was officially opened by The Mayor and children from Victoria Road Primary School in summer 2013. The play space is well used and valued by the local community and visitors to The Stour Centre alike.
This new youth play space, off Trinity Road and adjacent to the existing play area and community hall, is another great asset to this community. Opened in April 2014 by The Mayor and young people from The Goat Lees Youth Club, the basket swing, ball wall and outdoor fitness equipment are already well used by local residents.
Improvements to the toddler and junior area will be forthcoming in late 2014/2015, following community consultation with the new primary school.
