Business Restart Grants (April 2021)

Following the announcement of the 2021 Budget, we are aware many businesses will be impacted by their continued closure. We are awaiting final government guidance on the operation of any new business grant schemes that are a result of the finalised budget, due at the end of March 2021. Once this guidance has been received we will be in touch with eligible businesses.

National Lockdown Business Grants (January 2021)

With the announcement of January's national lockdown restrictions being imposed, we are aware many businesses will be impacted. We are awaiting final government guidance on the operation of these new business grant schemes.

Spring Closure and National Lockdown Grants 2021

Spring Closure and National Lockdown Grants 2021
Grant Name Who for? How much? How do I apply?
National Lockdown Grant (5 January 2021 - 15 February 2021)

Businesses with a business rates account, in the retail, hospitality and leisure sector that are required to close under National Lockdown restrictions.

  • £1-£15,000 Rateable Value businesses will receive £2,001.
  • £15,001-£50,999 Rateable Value businesses will receive £3,000.
  • £51,000 and greater Rateable Value businesses will receive £4,500.

Businesses that have already received an LRSG grant and are eligible for National Lockdown grants will be contacted directly.

Businesses that have yet to apply for the November National Lockdown Grant will need to complete an application which can be found at the bottom of this page. Once completed, we will then confirm eligibility to further grants.

National Lockdown Grant (16 February - 31 March 2021)

Businesses with a business rates account, in the retail, hospitality and leisure sector that are required to close under National Lockdown restrictions.

  • £1-£15,000 Rateable Value businesses will receive £2,096.
  • £15,001-£50,999 Rateable Value businesses will receive £3,143.
  • £51,000 and greater Rateable Value businesses will receive £4,714.

Businesses that have already received an LRSG grant and are eligible for National Lockdown grants will be contacted directly.

Businesses that have yet to apply for the November National Lockdown Grant will need to complete an application which can be found at the bottom of this page. Once completed, we will then confirm eligibility to further grants.

 

Spring 2021 Business Closure Grants 

Businesses with a business rates account, in the retail, hospitality and leisure sector that are required to close under National Lockdown restrictions.

One-off payment.

  • £1-£15,000 Rateable Value businesses will receive £4,000.
  • £15,001-£50,999 Rateable Value businesses will receive £6,000.
  • £51,000 and greater Rateable Value businesses will receive £9,000.

Businesses that have already received an LRSG grant and are eligible for National Lockdown grants will be contacted directly.

Businesses that have yet to apply for the November National Lockdown Grant will need to complete an application which can be found at the bottom of this page. Once completed, we will then confirm eligibility to further grants.

Exclusions from this grant

  • Businesses that are able to conduct their main service because they do not depend on providing direct in-person services from the premises and can operate their services effectively remotely.
  • Businesses that have chosen to close but are not required to by law.
  • Businesses that have already received grant payments that equal the maximum levels of State aid permitted under the de minimis and the Covid-19 Temporary State Aid Framework.
  • Businesses that were in administration, are insolvent or where a striking-off notice has been made are not eligible for funding under this scheme.

Support for businesses impacted by Tier Restrictions (December 2020)

Tier 3 restriction support 02/12/2020 to 19/12/2020

Businesses required to close as per the Local Tier 3 restrictions are eligible for a grant for each 14 day period of lockdown. These grants are paid at half the amount of those paid under the November National Lockdown.

  • For properties with a rateable value of £15k or under, grants to be £667 for the 14-day period
  • For properties with a rateable value of over £15k and below £51k, grants to be £1,000 for the 14-day period
  • For properties with a rateable value of £51k or over, grants to be £1,500 for the 14-day period

All businesses eligible for this grant will receive an email from the Council on the 9th December to confirm the details of this payment - please check your junk mailbox. If you have not received this email then please apply first for the LRSG (Closed) National Lockdown November 2020 grant if you have not done so already.

Businesses with a business rates account that are required to close under Tier 3 or Tier 4 restrictions.

£667 - £1,500 per 14 day period.

Businesses that have already received an LRSG grant and are eligible for Tier 3 or Tier 4 grants will be contacted directly.

Businesses submitting an application for the national lockdown period and Tier 3 or Tier 4 period will need to submit an application using the button below. Once you’ve applied for LRSG Closed you will receive an email to confirm your eligibility for Tier 3 or Tier 4 which you will need to respond to.

Christmas Support Payment for wet-led pubs

Support for businesses impacted by National Lockdown (November 2020)

Grants for eligible businesses which have been required to close by law during the latest phase of national COVID-19 restrictions are now available.

The Local Restrictions Support Grant - funded by central government and administered by Ashford Borough Council - will be available to those in the Ashford Borough Council District that are:

  • Liable for business rates, and
  • Were open as usual and providing in-person services from the business premises the day before lockdown was imposed on 5th November, and
  • Required to close by law

Local Restrictions Support Grant

 

(LRSG)

Businesses that pay Business Rates and are required to close in England due to the 28-day national lockdown that started on 5th November will be eligible to apply for the LRSG. They could be eligible for the following:

  • For properties with a rateable value of £15k or under, grants to be £1,334 for the 28-day period
  • For properties with a rateable value of over £15k and below £51k, grants to be £2,000 for the 28-day period
  • For properties with a rateable value of £51k or over, grants to be £3,000 for the 28-day period

Frequently Asked Questions

+ I am a charity, can I apply for a Local Restrictions Grant?

If you’re in a business premises, which has a business rating, and have been forced to close due to the national restrictions then you can apply for a grant.

+ I am in receipt of Small Business Rates Relief, do I apply for LRSG or ARG?

The eligibility criteria for LRSG is that you have a business rates assessment and are occupying a premises which is required to close by law. Being in receipt of SBRR does not remove eligibility.

+ Do I need to pay back this grant?

This financial support is a grant payment in the year 2020/21. As it is a grant payment it does not need to be paid back, but it should be declared in your end of year returns.
