The Great Big Green Week

We're taking part in The Great Big Green Week

The Great Big Green Week is a national celebration of community activity tackling climate change and nature loss running from 24th September to 2nd October.

Residents, businesses and community groups are encouraged to join together for the Great Big Green Week by taking part in activities to support and learn how they can contribute through everyday actions and choices against climate change.

So what is happening in the borough?

We will be hosting a series of events and education days, with our Roadshow event on the 24th September in Ashford Town Centre. There will be a collection of information stalls covering the key topics of energy/homes, transport, nature and biodiversity, waste and reuse and food.

Many businesses and community groups that have signed up to the event including, Energy Debt and Grant Advice, Infinity Energy Organisation, Caffyns and Jaguar Car Dealerships, Repair Cafe, Activ Cycles, Aspire Landscape and Management, Bare Bazar, Made in Ashford and FFC Environmental.

Families will also be able to take part in free activities run by Made In Ashford such as make their own upcycled flag, draft excluder and take part in a community colouring board.  Other competitions and promotions will be running on the day with an opportunity to win an EV car for the weekend.

There will also be story telling sessions run by Jenny Bailey a local author who nature inspired stories tell of the fight animals have with climate change and a chance to sign up to a free home energy saving survey with Infinity Energy Organisation.

Alongside our Roadshow event we will be supporting a variety of other events run by community groups from around the borough.
