Ashford Borough Council's Christmas 2020 messages
Published: 23/11/2022At the beginning of 2020, we entered a new decade with hope and excitement. Each of us with our dreams and aspirations for the year ahead. Little did we know that within a matter of weeks we would enter a new dimension and be forced to expand our thinking, our strength and our patience.
The pandemic has truly been a challenge and continues to stretch us, as we await the delivery of the vital vaccine and the chance to hug our loved ones and share time with those we have missed so much.
I am immensely proud of our citizens, businesses and organisations for coming together and reaching out to support one another. The demonstration of love, resilience and strength of spirit is most humbling and reminds me of wartime – yes, I am old enough!
As we move towards Christmas and the end of 2020 - we will, no doubt, reflect on what the New Year might bring. I encourage you all to step into 2021 with courage - knowing that all we have learnt and achieved through these months has made us more aware of our abilities, priorities and our passions.
I would, therefore, like to take this opportunity of wishing you a peaceful holiday time and a healthy and happier New Year. Enjoy time with those you love and care for, but remember to keep safe to protect one another and those in our communities.
Season’s Greetings from the Mayor of Ashford, Councillor John Link.
Cllr Gerry Clarkson, Leader of Ashford Borough Council and Tracey Kerly, Chief Executive, would also like to extend their Christmas wishes to everyone in the borough with the following festive video which can be viewed below.
