Refuse and recycling collections will be altered across the borough during the festive period 22/23.

Refuse and recycling collections due to take place between Monday 26 December and Friday 6 January will take place on the following day to residents’ normal collection day.

Refuse collections due to take place on Monday 26 December will take place on Tuesday 27 December, following throughout the week, ending with normal Friday collections taking place on Saturday 31 December.

The same will be repeated for recycling collections the following week, with Monday 2 January 2023 collections taking place Tuesday 3 January, following throughout the week, with normal Friday collections taking place on Saturday 7 January.

The normal collection timetable will resume on Monday 9 January 2023.

A reminder all refuse and recycling should be out for collection prior to 6am over Christmas and New Year.

Bulky/large item collections will be suspended from Monday 26 December to Monday 9 January. Garden waste collections with also be suspended for the two week festive period and resume normal service week commencing Monday 9 January on residents’ normal collection day.

During the festive period weekly clinical collections will take place on Tuesday 27 December and Tuesday 3 January. Normal service will resume Monday 9 January.

We have once again taken part in the Pilgrims Hospice special fundraising campaign Tree Recycling. Last year a record breaking 2,250 real Christmas trees were collected from homes across east Kent, raising more than £42,700 for vital end-of-life care.

You can register your real Christmas tree for collection by midnight Monday 9 January by visiting Pilgrims Hospices website and Pilgrims team of volunteer elves will collect your tree to be recycled from Saturday 14 January – Monday 16 January.
