Planning Service Updates
Planning application validation
Current turnaround for planning application validation is within 3 working days.
Planning application fee increase
Planning fees have been increased by Government and came into force on 6 December 2023.
The summary of changes include:
- Application fees increased by 25%, with major schemes up by 35%
- The provision for a 'free go' on application resubmissions will also be removed, but individual applications that were already eligible for a free resubmission prior to the change (I.E. before 6 December 2023) will remain so. This will see the number of such exemptions fade out over the 12-month period after the amendments have taken effect.
- An annual rise in application fees linked to inflation (and capped at 10%) every April from 2025 onwards
- Planning guarantee amendment so that undetermined non-major applications (including householder developments) will be eligible to receive a refund after 16 weeks, shortened from the 26-week period which remains 'as is' in all other cases.

Email alerts extended to include Parish option
Our email notification tool now includes options for signing up to notifications by Parish as well as Wards. This tool is still in Beta phase and so it is possible that users may experience minor issues during this phase. If issues are experienced, they can be reported via the website face icons on the homepage. A review of the service is scheduled for the new year after which a final version will be released for customers.
