Batteries - Find where you can get them recycled local to you e.g. retailers and supermarkets, using the recycle your electricals website. You can also take them to the household waste and recycling centre

Bedding (duvets and pillows) - Household waste and recycling centre

Bedding (sheets, blankets, duvet covers, pillow cases) - Textiles banks, household waste recycling centre

Bicycle tyres - Household waste recycling centre

Bicycles - Take to a second-hand cycle shops or charity shops if in working order or take to your local household waste recycling centre

Biscuit tins - Recycling bin (green). Metal and plastic biscuit tins are both accepted

Black plastics - Such as ready meal trays - general waste/non-recyclable bin (grey)

CDs - Working CDs can be donated to a charity shop. Broken CDs need to either go in your general waste/non-recyclable bin (grey) or taken to your local household waste recycling centre

Cellophane - General waste/non-recyclable bin (grey)

Cereal boxes - Recycling bin (green). Flatten boxes to save space in your bin

Christmas cards - Recycling bin (green)

Christmas Trees - Garden bin (brown) if signed up for the service, if not you can use the Pilgrims Hospice Christmas Tree Recycling Scheme or take to your local household waste recycling centre

Cling film - General waste/non-recyclable bin (grey)

Clothes and textiles - If in good condition take them to your local charity shop. You can also take them to the household waste recycling centre or textile banks

Vegetable peelings - Food caddy or home compost

Vegetable oil - Cooking oil and fat shouldn’t be poured down sinks as it can cause blockages. Small amounts of cooking oil, fats, plate scrapings of fatty food can be placed in your food caddy

Water filters - General waste/non-recyclable bin (grey) or household waste recycling centre. Some large supermarkets have water filter disposal points

Weeds - Garden waste bin (brown)

Wet wipes - Baby wipes, cosmetic wipes, bathroom cleaning wipes and moist toilet tissues are not recyclable and are not flushable either even though some labels say they are. They should always be placed in your general waste/non-recyclable bin (grey)

Wood - Household waste recycling centre

Wrapping paper - Non-foil/shiny and glitter free wrapping paper can be placed in your recycling bin (green), please remove as much sellotape as possible and ribbons and bows. If it contains glitter, foil or is shiny then it should be placed in your general waste/non-recyclable bin (grey)
