These are uncertain times and it's important for everyone to look out for one another.

While those on the shielded list are receiving food parcels from the government, not everyone will receive one of these. However, if you are stuck at home there are plenty of businesses throughout the borough who are delivering food and other essential supplies to your front door.

If you are a business that is operating home deliveries, please complete our food and essential supplies form to let us know what you are delivering and the areas of the borough you are active in.

We will shortly have a directory published here that will allow you to find out food suppliers in your area.

If you're looking to make an order for delivery with a supermarket, visit our supermarket deliveries page for guidance on how you can do this and for contact details for local supermarkets.

Do you no longer need your government food parcel?

Government advice and guidance on accessing food and other essential supplies.

If you received an NHS letter and if you have registered as shielding, you may have received a weekly food parcel. This will contain enough food for one adult for one week.

If you now wish to cancel this, you should please do one of the following:

  • Refuse the parcel when it's delivered, as this will then cancel it and you will be removed from the government's distribution list.
  • Visit gov.uk where you originally registered as shielded, and go to the question 'Do you have a way of getting essential supplies delivered at the moment?'. You would have answered 'no' to this question originally. Please now answer 'yes'. At this point you will be removed from the government distribution list.
  • Call 0800 028 8327 and make sure you have your NHS number handy (this number will be on the top of your NHS letter). The phone line is automated and you will need to follow the instructions. You will be asked the question 'Do you have a way of getting essential supplies delivered at the moment?'. You would have answered 'no' to this question originally. Please now answer 'yes'. At this point you will be removed from the government distribution list.

Important: If you deregister from the food parcel list you will still retain your priority status slot for supermarket delivery.
