Household waste collections over the festive period 23/24

Household waste collections will be altered across the Ashford borough during the festive period 23/24.

Refuse and food waste collections due to take place Monday 25 December will be brought forward to Saturday 23 December. Refuse and food waste collections due to take place between Tuesday 26 December and Friday 29 December will take place on the day after residents’ normal collection day.

The following week, recycling and food waste collections due to take place between Monday 1 January and Friday 5 January will take place on the day after residents’ normal collection day.

Normal collections will resume on Monday 8 January. A reminder that bins should be placed out for collection by 6am.

Missed bins should be reported as normal via the report it channel on our website within 48 hours of the revised bin collection day.

Garden waste collections will be suspended for the two week festive period and will resume from Tuesday 9 January on residents’ normal collection day.

Large item/bulky collections will be suspended from Monday 25 December to Tuesday 9 January.

Clinical collections due to take place on Monday 25 December will be brought forward to Saturday 23 December. Collections due to take place on Monday 1 January will take place on Tuesday 2 January. Normal clinical collections will resume on Monday 8 January.

For the 12th year running we are supporting Pilgrims Hospices special fundraising campaign Christmas Tree Recycling. Last year more than 3,150 real Christmas trees were collected from the Ashford, Canterbury and Thanet areas and £57,000 raised for vital end-of-life care.

Simply make a donation of your choice when registering your real Christmas tree for collection and Pilgrims volunteer elves will collect your tree to be recycled from Saturday 13 January – Monday 15 January. More details can be found on Pilgrims Hospices website.
