NOTICE OF INTENTION

 ASHFORD BOROUGH COUNCIL (OFF-STREET PARKING PLACES)

(AMENDMENT 1) ORDER 2021

ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984

NOTICE is hereby given that Ashford Borough Council intends to make the above Orders under Sections 32, 33, 35,124 and Part IV of Schedule 9 to the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and Section 43 and Schedule 3 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1991, Part 6 of the Traffic Management Act 2004 and of all other powers enabling it in behalf and with the consent of the Chief Officer of Police in accordance with Part III of Schedule 9 to the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 relating to the Council's off-street car parks in Ashford and Tenterden.

The effect of this amendment will be:

  • To reflect the availability of virtual permits and virtual season tickets as valid methods of payment for parking in car parks
  • To amend rules relating to the use of electric vehicle charging bays where present
  • To amend the hours of operation in the Edinburgh Road Multi-Storey Car Park to allow opening at all times and
    • to implement an overnight charge (from 6pm to 7am) and allow for a Resident Permit option for use solely in this car park, valid for use on the top two floors
    • to incentivise use of cashless parking service (RingGo) in Edinburgh Road Multi-Storey Car Park by lowering the charge to accommodate the convenience fee
    • to amend the rules relating to the use of this car park accordingly
  • To replace Schedule 2 of the Ashford Borough Council (Off-Street Parking Places) Consolidated Order 2019 (as amended) as necessary to reflect the above changes
  • To make minor administrative changes

Please give contact details and full address, allowing time for postage and return to be sure that replies are submitted before the end of the consultation period. In light of this consideration, the minimum three week consultation period has been extended to four weeks.

Any objections, comments of support or other representations relating to this Order must be made in writing. Please use reference 2021.OS.AM1 in all correspondence.
