ABC Electrical Services goes from strength to strength

ABC Electrical Services, the direct labour organisation working for Ashford Borough Council, has had a hugely successful 2021 as it expands its top quality electrical services provided to businesses and residents in Kent.
While continuing to carry out installations and maintenance on thousands of council-owned houses and flats, the team has won a growing number of contracts in the commercial sector. It has been so successful in quoting for work that it has recorded an astonishing 97% hit rate in pitching for and securing new work.
ABC Electrical Services’ work on commercial and domestic private properties has generated an income of £33,000 in the last year. Many have been repeat customers in a clear demonstration of its growing reputation for delivering quality and value for money.
This work has been completed while still “doing the day job” of maintaining the council’s stock of 5,100 homes across the borough. This valuable extra income is helping the authority fund essential public services.
It has invested in new IT software and systems to improve the way it does business – a new in-house stock control system is saving several thousands of pounds a month in purchasing materials and stock. It has eliminated wasted time for its staff waiting at trade counters, freeing up more time to dedicate to customers.
The IT upgrade has also slashed resource-heavy paperwork by automating cyclical work notifications, letters and appointments as well as providing a mobile workflow for electricians in the field. They are able to complete work orders and visits on their mobile devices, by adding work codes and material orders, saving paperwork and form-filling on their return to the depot.
ABC Electrical Services also has a strong community spirit. In 2021 it has installed three defibrillators free of charge at Little Chart Village Hall, the Spearpoint Pavilion in Kennington and the Singleton Environment Centre.
It has continued to run a successful apprenticeship programme, with three apprentices to date completing their full training course.
As well as ongoing trade training, team members have attended numerous other courses including emergency first aid, deaf awareness, electric vehicle charging and solar photovoltaic training. It is MCS-accredited to allow us to install, service and maintain solar PV systems.
