The Gambling Act 2005 covers all commercial gambling in England and Wales and includes the regulation of gambling.
Gambling Act Policy
Full council adopted the licensing authority’s current policy in December 2015. The policy is valid for a maximum period of three years; during this period we will monitor any developments or changes in legislation and will update and consult on the policy as required. A draft Statement of Principles for Gambling [pdf] 1510KB has been prepared for 2019-2022 and will be open to public consultation from the 1st June until the 31st August 2018. Three licensing objectives underpin the legislation:
- Preventing gambling from being a source of crime and disorder, being associated with crime or disorder, or being used to support crime
- Ensuring that gambling is conducted in a fair and open way
- Protecting children and other vulnerable people from being harmed or exploited by gambling
