Gambling Act Policy

Ashford Borough Council approved its revised Statement of Principles for Gambling 2019-2022 [pdf] 1765KB on the 13 December 2019 and comes into effect on the 1 February 2019. The public notice of adoption is available to view here [pdf] 86KB. The policy is valid for a maximum period of three years; during this period we will monitor any developments or changes in legislation and will update and consult on the policy as required.

The current Policy remains applicable until the 1 February 2019 and is available via Gambling Policy Statement 2016-2019 [pdf] 519KB.

Our objectives

  • Preventing gambling from being a source of crime and disorder, being associated with crime or disorder, or being used to support crime
  • Ensuring that gambling is conducted in a fair and open way
  • Protecting children and other vulnerable people from being harmed or exploited by gambling
