Ashford venues recognised in night-time economy safety scheme

Venues in Ashford have been recognised for their work in keeping people safe while socialising.

The Ashford Club, The County Hotel, Hollywood Bowl, Ashford Truck Stop and the Singleton Barn have received ‘Best Bar None’ accreditation, under a national scheme supported by the Home Office.

Certificates were presented to the licensed premises on Thursday 9 July 2026 at Ashford police station, during Ashford Partnership Against Crime (APAC)’s Pubwatch meeting.

Best Bar None acknowledges how accredited venues promote safety in the night-time economy. Businesses are required to demonstrate their commitment to responsible alcohol sales, security measures, customer welfare, staff training and engagement with community partners, including Kent Police, with the aim of reducing alcohol-related crime.

District Commander for Ashford, Chief Inspector Jennifer Bassan, said: ‘Our collaboration with licensed premises and partner agencies is a vital tool in keeping people safe when they are out socialising. This ongoing work enables systems to be in place to deal promptly and robustly with incidents when they are reported to us.

‘Best Bar None highlights how businesses are upholding high standards to create safe and welcoming environments for customers, while contributing positively to the night-time economy. I’m pleased that our local establishments have been recognised in this way, and I look forward to continued engagement with local partners to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for residents and visitors across the district.’
