Free parking this Christmas season for shoppers in Ashford and Tenterden

This December shoppers can enjoy free parking in most council-owned car parks in Ashford and Tenterden.

Ashford Borough Council is once again offering free parking in both towns to encourage residents and visitors to do their Christmas shopping locally, and support our local businesses in these difficult times.

Free parking will be available in council-run car parks in Ashford and Tenterden (apart from Recreation Ground car park, Tenterden) on the following days and times:

• Friday 3, 10 and 17 December from 3pm
• Saturday 18 and Sunday 19 December all day

This seasonal parking offer is in addition to the existing free parking scheme that is available in selected council-run car parks at certain times, e.g. free after 3pm in Edinburgh Road and Elwick Place. 

Cllr Peter Feacey, Portfolio of Community Safety and Wellbeing said: “It has been another tough year for many of our local retailers so I’m pleased that once again we are able to offer free parking in Ashford and Tenterden on the run up to Christmas.

“The festive season is one of the busiest shopping periods of the year, and Ashford and Tenterden have a lot to offer shoppers. We encourage residents to support their home town by doing their Christmas shopping locally and help boost trade for our hardworking, home-grown businesses.”
