News article entitled Julie Rose Stadium set to reopen

The Julie Rose Stadium operated by Freedom Leisure in partnership with Ashford Borough Council will reopen its doors on 12 April, after the third, and hopefully last lockdown.

The team are so grateful to customers for their patience, support and loyalty once again during the closure.

The Julie Rose Stadium will reopen on Monday 12 April 2021 for gym use as well as outdoor activities. As per the Government guidelines, group exercise classes will not be available straightaway but they should recommence in May.

With winter out of the way it is time to start getting active, ready to make the most of summer 2021, which the team hope will be very different from last year. Where better to do that than your local Freedom Leisure centre, where you can confidently exercise with others in a fun, motivating and Covid-secure environment.

Ivan Horsfall, Turner Managing Director at Freedom Leisure, said; ”We look forward to seeing everyone using their local leisure centre again, and the teams can’t wait to get back to providing our local communities with opportunities for exercise, activity and the chance to socialise safely.”

In addition, Ashford residents will soon be able to use a refurbished gym and try out a new soft play and clip and climb centre at the Stour Centre this summer.

The £7.5m revamp includes upgraded water features in the pool and improved pool showers. For fitness customers the gym will be extended with brand new equipment and there will be an additional exercise studio and new changing rooms.

The major refurbishment will significantly improve the leisure and fitness offer in Ashford, alongside those on offer at the Julie Rose Stadium. Works began in June 2020 with the reopening planned for June 2021.
