Kent Housing Group Excellence Awards celebrate housing heroes

Teams, individuals and organisations making a difference across the housing sector have been recognised at the 2026 Kent Housing Group Excellence Awards.
The annual awards took place at the Glass Box Theatre, MidKent College in Gillingham, on Monday 21 September, bringing housing colleagues together to celebrate the fantastic work happening across Kent and Medway.
Hosted by KHG Co-chair Becs Wilcox, the event was a chance to step back from the day-to-day challenges facing the sector and recognise the people, projects and partnerships making a genuine difference to residents and communities.
This year, 14 winners and 13 highly commended entries were recognised, alongside an honorary mention and the special KHG Chair’s Award.
Ashford Borough Council was among the organisations celebrating on the day. Jo Stocks won the Associate Professional award, while Ellie Millard and the Resettlement Team were highly commended in the same category.
Elizabeth Mitchell was named the winner of the Innovation award, and the council’s Housing Options and Allocations Service shared the Team of the Year award with Thanet District Council’s Housing Options Team.
Sylvia Roberts was also highly commended in the Housing Professional category, while Lottie Rooke-James received a highly commended accolade for Young Professional.
Guests also enjoyed the opportunity to catch up over lunch, with some particularly delicious cake adding to the celebrations.
A special moment during the ceremony saw Ashford Borough Council Chief Executive Tracey Kerly present the KHG Chair’s Award to Tim Woolmer from Kent County Council, recognising his contribution to housing across Kent and Medway.
Other awards recognised achievements in asset management, community projects, services for vulnerable people, development and regeneration, partnership working, the private sector and the work of an unsung community hero.
