New play equipment for Ashford play areas
Published: 07/03/2023
Ashford Borough Council have started work on installing new individual pieces of play equipment in a number of play areas across the borough.
Works include the installation of new swings, springer units, multiplay units, climbing frames, seesaws and inclusive roundabouts.
Aspire Landscape and Management are delivering the new piece of equipment to a number of play areas across the borough, by either installing the new equipment or replacing a previous item.
The new equipment will cost £200,000 and is from the play area maintenance budget, to improve facilities in play areas across the borough.
Ashford Borough Council is committed to providing local communities with high quality and accessible outside recreation, and we continually seek to secure additional funding to maintain and strengthen the local play offer.
These works are in addition to the three brand new play areas opened at the end of 2022 and beginning of 2023; Central Park, Park Farm, Rylands Road, Bockhanger and Spearpoint Recreation Ground, Kennington, which were part of the £1.1m Playground Regeneration Programme.
Cllr Matthew Forest, Portfolio Holder for Environment, Recreation and Property for Ashford Borough Council said “I am always pleased to share exciting news with our play areas, and to see further funding, as they play such a vital part in our communities’ connectivity, health and wellbeing.
“We continuously look at how we can improve our play area facilities, making them more inclusive, and enjoyable for everyone, which has been shown in recent years with bringing high quality play options to the borough.”
