Young people invited to show why they love Ashford

Ashford Borough Council is inviting children and students to capture what makes the borough special to them in its new Why I Love Ashford competition. 

Young people can enter by drawing a picture or taking a photograph of a favourite place, activity or memory, accompanied by a short explanation of why it matters to them.

There are three age categories: primary school children aged under 11; secondary school children aged 11 to 16; and further education students at sixth form or college. 

One winner from each category will receive £100 of Love2shop vouchers. The three winning entries will also feature on hoardings around the town, on the Love Ashford website, in a future edition of Ashford For You magazine and across Ashford Borough Council and Love Ashford social media channels. 

The competition opens on Friday 25 September and entries must be received by 5pm on Friday 30 October. 

Entries should include the child or young person’s name, age and school or college, together with contact details for a parent or guardian. They can be emailed to competition@ashford.gov.uk or posted to Communications Team, Ashford Borough Council, International House, Dover Place, Ashford, TN23 1HU. 

Entries must be the entrant’s own original work, in landscape format at A4 or A3 size. Digital entries should be supplied as a high-resolution JPEG or PDF attachment of at least 300dpi, rather than embedded in an email.
