Regulation 18 Consultation

June 2026 update

In early 2026, a new system for Local Plans was introduced. On 30 June 2026, the council issued a Notice of Intention to commence Local Plan preparation under the new plan making system. This means that the council is progressing a new local plan for the borough under the new plan making system and is required to restart the plan making process.

This means that the work on the Ashford Local Plan 2042, including the Regulation 18 consultation, has been stopped.

What was the Regulation 18 consultation?

Between 18 August and 13 October 2025, the council consulted on a draft Local Plan 2042. This version of the Local Plan shows the intended direction of travel for the Local Plan. As part of this work the council sought comments from the local community and residents about what the draft Local Plan should cover.

Please note the consultation has now closed and is now superseded by the work on the new emerging Ashford Local Plan 2043.
