Coronavirus Service Update

Our civil enforcement officers are primarily working on duties essential to supporting community services rather than normal parking duties. They are still dealing with significant parking incidents which are reported to the council e.g. to ensure free flow of traffic for emergency vehicles, to respond to reports of dangerous parking and protecting parking provision for disabled and blue badge holders.

Residents who are permit holders can now park their vehicles for free in our car parks in order to free up the residential streets that are more congested with more people being at home. You will need to display your parking permits.

Key workers are also able to park for free in our car parks and on-street parking bays. Charges are still in force in all council car parks.

Note: Critical workers should display supporting evidence in their windscreen, such as photocopies of their work pass (with sensitive information removed), or a letter or evidence from their employer.

All car parks open except for Edinburgh Road.

Note relating to Elwick Place Car Park – from 12 May 2020

From 12 May 2020, groundworks will start at Elwick Place car park. This work related to the planned change to an ANPR (barrier-controlled) car park.

The car park will be closed from 12 May 2020 until work is completed. The installation should not take very long but, we have, as yet, no date when the car park will be open again as usual.

Please note: The barrier controls will come into operation at a later date (to be advised). Until that time, once the car park is reopened, please continue to use and pay for parking as before.

We apologise for any inconvenience caused during this period.

Update on Parkmobile, RingGo and cashless parking

From 8 June 2020, Parkmobile can no longer be used in Ashford Borough Council car parks and on-street locations.

To use the cashless service, you will need an active account with RingGo.

Most existing location codes from Parkmobile have changed slightly – please use the app or check with local notices on ticket machines.
