Repairs and Improvements after you apply

When a Right to Buy application is submitted, Ashford Borough Council will only carry out essential repairs to your property. The property will also be removed from any Planned Maintenance programme such as kitchen refurbishment, bathroom refurbishment, window replacement or roof replacement.

Applicants will be advised of the repairs and improvement limitations within their acknowledgement letter.

An essential repair can be classed as anything required to ensure the property is wind and water tight. It could also include repairs to heating and hot water systems, sanitary ware or works needed to ensure the property is safe.

If a non-essential repair was requested before your application was submitted, this will still be carried out.
