Markets
One-off market events
If you are planning to hold a one-off market in the 'street', such as a Christmas market, you will likely need a Street Trading Consent.
In these cases, the event organiser can apply for a single Street Trading Consent to cover the trading activities.
As part of the application process, the organiser must:
- Submit their event plans to the Safety Advisory Group (SAG) so that any concerns raised by agencies such as the police, fire service, highways, and ambulance can be considered.
- Provide evidence of public liability insurance of £5 million (small community based events) or £10 million (large or commercial events).
- Pay the relevant fee. This is free for community-organised events, or otherwise based on the number of stalls planned.
- Record and retain details of individual traders (e.g. contact information) who will be trading under your consent.
Please contact Licensing to discuss your event, and to submit an application for a one-off market.
