The annual Ashford community clean-up took place on 11 May 2025 involving around 200 volunteers. The campaign was led by Mr Nags Rai, who is a coordinator at Sagarmatha Gurkha Nepalese Community Ashford Kent (SGNCAK).
One of the aims of the event is to create harmony and cohesion in society and to show the commitment of the Nepalese community to the local community and the residents of Ashford Borough.
On the day, Mr Nags Rai welcomed all attendees and gave a safety brief including action to take in the event of an emergency before litter-picking equipment, including hi-vis vests and personal equipment, were handed out to all individuals prior to tackling litter in Victoria Park.
President of Gurkha Peace Foundation, Mr Bhim Tumbahangfhe, and SGNCAK chairperson Mr Dammar Limbu were also present to witness the event including the members of Royal British Legion.
Huge piles of litter was collected by the volunteers and disposed of. Mr Dammar Limbu thanked Mr Nags Rai for leading such a wonderful event and he also thanked all those who part.
