Paul Clokie OBE

Ashford Borough Council is mourning the death of former Council Leader and Honorary Alderman of the borough, Paul Clokie OBE.

Paul Clokie was a member of Ashford Borough Council for 25 years, representing Tenterden East from 1998 to 2003 and Tenterden North from 2003-2023.

He was also Leader of the Council from 1999 to 2010 and was appointed as an Honorary Alderman for his service to the borough in October 2023.

Following his spell as Leader, Paul was a Cabinet member for many years, holding the following portfolios: 2010-2011 Planning; 2015-2017 Housing; 2017-2019 Planning; and from 2019 to 2022 Regeneration and Corporate Property.

He also chaired the Audit Committee from 2012 to 2015 and was awarded his OBE in the 2007 Birthday Honours for services to local government.

Details of funeral arrangements are to be announced.
