Register Migration - HM Land Registry

Under the Infrastructure Act 2015 responsibility for the 331 Local Land Charges registers was transferred to HM Land Registry in a phased approach.

From 20 April 2026, our Local Land Charges Register will have migrated to HM Land Registry’s national register and the following options will be available to you:

Searches via Ashford Borough Council:

• Full Local Authority Search containing:
  • an Official Certificate of search from HM Land Registry
  • CON29 replies. (Residential and non-residential)
• Expedited full search (residential only)
• CON29 (Enquiries of the Local Authority) replies only.
• Expedited CON29 (Enquiries of the Local Authority) replies only (residential only)

Searches via HM Land Registry:

• Official Certificate of Search (LLC1) directly from HM Land Registry
• Inspection of the Local Land Charges Register via HMLR digital services.

Access to HM Land Registry’s new digital service will be through the Portal, Business Gateway and on HM Land Registry’s GOV.UK pages.
