Sustainable development

Sustainable development and high quality design are central to Ashford Borough Council’s approach to plan making and deciding planning applications. Delivering more sustainable forms of development can help to tackle the causes and effects of climate change. It is essential that we tackle the environmental performance of new developments and buildings now as well as protecting the interests of future generations.

Code for Sustainable Homes no longer applies

The council no longer requires planning applications for residential development to comply with the Code for Sustainable Homes or guidance contained in the council’s SPD (2012) with regards to those standards. Please read the full statement in the document below:
