Fly-tipping

The fly-tipping of waste is illegal, and we work closely with other organisations including Kent County Council, Trading Standards, the Environment Agency and Police to ensure those responsible for fly-tipping are dealt with.

Large fines will be given to those responsible for fly-tipping and those who have failed to treat their waste correctly. We work with Kent County Council Enforcement Officers when pursuing possible prosecutions. The last case resulted in the person responsible being fined in excess of £2,000.

Before you allow anyone to remove your waste you must ensure they are registered with the Environment Agency as a 'Carrier of Waste' and that they give you a Waste Transfer Note for the waste they are removing.

Who removes fly-tipping from my land?

Removal of fly-tipping from private land is the responsibility of the land owner. Please visit the National Fly-tipping Prevention Group website for advice on what to do with fly-tipped waste and how to protect your land.

How do I report fly-tipping?
