Local Government Transparency Code
The Local Government Transparency Code tells Councils what information they must publish so the public can see how money is spent and how decisions are made. Its aim is to improve openness and accountability.
Councils must publish key information regularly, such as spending, contracts, senior staff pay, and how the organisation is structured. The information should be easy to find, understand, and reuse.
All data is published under the Open Government Licence (OGL). This means people can use and share the information freely, providing they follow the licence conditions (for example, giving proper credit and not misleading others).
