School children's Bug Hotels at Ashford Designer Outlet

For the past 6 months Ashford Borough Council's Climate Team have been working alongside partners from the Ashford Designer Outlet, the Ashford Repair Café and Singleton Environment Centre to bring two Bug Hotel designs to life.
A competition was run amongst local schools in November last year with the winning designs of 'Bug Ben’, designed by Joseph from Aldington Primary School, and ‘The Windmill Air Bee and Bee’, designed by Dylan from Goat Lees Primary School (with a little help from his Grandad) being chosen.
The designs were then brought to life by the creative volunteers from Ashford Repair Café, with the designers, family and friends being invited to stuff them last month.
The bug hotels have now taken pride of place at the Ashford Designer Outlet, which will help to support and sustain insects in the centre that add natural value to the landscaping. So next time you are there, make sure you go and take a look.
